Making News & Our Own News

2010

February, 2010

Sally spent a week in Phoenix training to become an eBay Seller Outreach agent. I learned much but only worked a few weeks as other things got in the way of spending time making Seller Outreach calls.

2009

No big milestones in 2009, but had a rewarding year of designing for other eBay sellers and training them in the use of Blackthorne.

2008

June, 2008

eBay Live in Chicago - and an opportunity to visit our families there and in Detroit. I taught a couple classes at Live about using Blackthorne and had a great time meeting with my eBay friends.

2007

August, 2007

I'm still pumped up from attending eBay Live & am so looking forward to Live 2008 in Chicago. Kyle & I will make it a big trip to also visit his family there & mine in Detroit.

After spending much of the last several months dressing up the listings and eBay pages for my fellow sellers, I decided to finally revamp my site & eBay materials. Since my eBay sales are split between client items & my design, it was also time to update my marketing focus.

June, 2007

I just got back from eBay Live in Boston. What a fantastic experience! In addition to being featured on 2 websites (dekoopman.net/category/ebaylive/ & boston.com/business/), I spoke with dozens if not hundreds of my fellow sellers & eBay staff.

One thing that especially thrilled me was to learn eBay now has an eBay stores Certified Designer designation. I tested and was accepted today (6/19).

I am so excited about this! I've been designing stuff for eBay sellers since 1999 and have been doing much more in the last few months. This certification gives me a bit more credibility, so I'm a happy designer!

May, 2007

I was invited to join eBay's Voices of the Community, a focus group of sorts representative of eBay members. eBay flew me to their San Jose headquarters with a few other eBay members to discuss various eBay issues. I am SO HONORED to be given this opportunity to be heard by eBay staff!

2006

December, 2006

We changed our eBay ID to GOing1nceLLC from GOing1nceAMC to reflect our business status as a new LLC in Arizona..

November, 2006

GOing1nceAMC just had its best sales month ever in October! A couple new clients and a couple previous clients had us list a lot of interesting items - art glass, pottery, milk glass, model trains and, of course, more Mafia memorabilia. Thank you, clients, for allowing us to work with you!

With some of the October profits, we decided it was time to invest in a membership in the Metro Tucson Chamber of Commerce. I'm excited to attend Chamber events and meet my fellow business owners and build up our business in selling items for Tucson businesses on eBay.

June, 2006

I (Sally) am off to eBay Live with 15,000 other eBay members! This annual convention is the most motivating experience I have all year - I'm so looking forward to meeting with my eBay friends, learning more & seeing Huey Lewis and the News at the Gala!

May, 2006

GOing1nceAMC sold the largest item it ever had listed on eBay - a manufacturing furnace measuring approximately 25' x 8' x 8' and weighing several tons. Our client, Tucson's Technology Research & Development Istitute (TDRI), sold this to raise money for the institute.

March, 2006

A couple weeks ago, I was featured on a local news report about eBay on KOLD-TV, Channel 13. I wish I could have gotten a few more words in about my business of selling other people's items, but...

We haven't had many client items to sell the last few weeks, but I've been teaching eBay classes at Pima Community College, training some people on using Blackthorne Pro (eBay auction management software) and creating a CD for myself & to sell to other eBay teachers to give to students.

January, 2006

We reached 1000 feedback on eBay!

2005

September, 2005

I (Sally) became an eBay Education Specialist recently. An ES is one who trains and passes a test to be authorized to teach about buying & selling on eBay (using eBay-approved content, of course).

In August, I began teaching classes about eBay at Pima Community College - and I have many more scheduled through next April. Some of my classes will be about the basics, the others will be using the "The Basics of Selling on eBay" ES materials.

June, 2005

Wow! eBay Live was, as expected, fantastic! Ten thousand eBayers descended with us upon San Jose for a few days of learning more about eBay and hanging out with our fellow eBayers. One of my faves: the US Postmaster General actually was one of the speakers! (Guess the PO does recognize how much business we eBay sellers give to the USPS!)

Of course, we're already looking forward to Live '06 in Vegas next June!

May, 2005

We're featured in Michael Miller's new book, "Making a Living from Your eBay Business" from Que Publishing. GOing1nceAMC is shown as an example of eBay sellers who are Trading Assistants, selling items on consignment for other individuals and businesses. In Michael's last books, "Tricks of the eBay Masters", several of Sally's eBay tips were mentioned and a brief profile of us was also included.

We're gearing up to go to eBay Live next month - and spend some time visiting CA & NV. We'll not run any eBay listings thru most of the month, but will return on the 4th of July raring to go!

February, 2005

We're listing more items than ever each week now on eBay. We continue to list items from the estate of Joseph Bonanno as well as items from a few other clients. We're hoping to open a store-front location this year so that clients can bring their items to us to list on eBay. We already have plans to attend eBay Live in June in San Jose. (This is eBay's 10 year anniversary year.)

January, 2005

We relisted the home of the late Joseph Bonanno on eBay as an eBay real estate advertisement. Again, more press - and again we helped at the open house and made arrangements with our local Borders Book Store to run a book signing of Bill Bonanno's new book, The Good Guys.

2004

November, 2004

We advertised the home of the late Joseph Bonanno on eBay and received much local and national press. We also helped at the open house.

October, 2004

Well, we beat our own best sale record - a lot of vending machines for $4600! The buyer drove in from Arkansas to pick up the lot to take back home for his vending route there.

August, 2004

Nothing to do with business, but everything to do with GOOD THINGS! My daughter, Nicole, gave birth to my first grandchild, Grace Angelina Konz!

July, 2004

Some of our auctions are receiving local and national media attention. Why? Visit this page.

June 24-26, 2004

Kyle & I attended eBay Live in New Orleans. I received an award from the Seller's Assistant User Group for my participation on the eBay Seller's Assistant Pro discussion board and as a beta tester. (SAPro is the eBay software I use to manage our auctions.) If you'd like to read about our weekend or see some photos of the event, go here.

June 9, 2004

GOing1nceAMC achieves 500 feedback and is proud to show off the "purple star" eBay designated for that level of achievement.

March, 2004

GOing1nceAMC sold its biggest surpise item ever - a deck of cards for over $2500! See them here.

March, 2004

SoAzAuctions changes its eBay name to GOing1nceAMC and its website to GOing1nce.com. This is a step towards the expansion of Sally's and Kyle's eBay auction consignment business.

2003

November, 2003

SoAzAuctions listed and sold its highest-price item on eBay thus far - a vintage Heywood-Wakefield dining set with 8 chairs.

September 10, 2003

Arizona Daily Star, Tucson's morning newspaper, published the following article on the front page of its business section. Several new clients contacted SoAzAuctions (our former name) to use its services.

A Tucson woman has been recognized as eBay's PowerSeller of the Month for September. Sally Milo, sole proprietor of SoAzAuctions, sells consigned items on eBay for local businesses and individuals. She is also the full-time eBay auction manager for Arizona Stamp & Coin. PowerSellers must sell a minimum of $1,000 per month and maintain at least 98 percent positive feedback on transactions. There are about 75,000 eBay PowerSellers nationwide.

Sally Milo is recognized as the eBay PowerSeller of the Month. The community message boards on eBay linked to this article:

Profile: Sally
User ID: SoAzAuctions & AZSC

A few years back, Sally launched her eBay career when her friend, Wayne, called upon her computer/web-savvy and sharp graphic designer skills to help run his eBay auctions. She bought a Coke can bank to learn a bit about eBay and then started listing coins for Wayne's company.

Today she manages both Wayne's eBay business and her own-with the help of an assistant on each. Sally has learned a lot in her short, brilliant career on eBay.

"I wish I knew from the beginning about auction management software," Sally tells us. "I listed every item one-by-one with the SYI form for the first couple of years, then used Mister Lister for about another year. I investigated various software when Mister Lister was discontinued and went with SA Pro (Seller's Assistant Pro). It's knocked off about 75% of my auction management time spent!"

Sally spends about two to three hours per week on the PS board and about six to ten hours per week on the SA Pro board, which she considers to be her home board.

"I'm proud that I'm a frequent contributor to the SA Pro board and have published an SA Pro Quick Start Guide" Sally says. "I've found SA Pro worth many times its monthly fee."

Sally also turns to PowerSeller Support from time to time. "Once, on a watch selling for several thousand dollars, we received a BUY It Now from Europe. Our TOS instructs international bidders to email us first, but this bidder had not. I checked his recent bidding history all for the same brand of expensive watch and then called PS Support. They checked my suspicions, NARUed him and gave instant credit on our fees," she says.

As a graphic designer, Sally offers this bit of advice. "Your eBay ID is a brand name. Use your logo. Give your auction pages a consistent look, using the same design template where possible. Having a recognizable look adds to your professional appearance and makes you look familiar from time to time."

Sally's top selling tips are:
1) Represent your items accurately. Do what you say you will, when you say you will.
2) Answer all emails. Bidders appreciate your help and chances are, they'll look at your auctions in the future.
3) Keep the lines of communication open with bidders before, during and post-auction, especially the newbies.

Sally thinks it's helpful for PowerSellers to remember what it's like to be a newbie and treat the ones they run into the way they would have liked to be treated. Sally shares the honor of PowerSeller of the Month with her two assistants, Kyle and Kevin. Congratulations to you all and best wishes for your continued success on eBay!
